The Craze of Headsets
The development of headsets has come a long way since its early development. Originally designed for telephone operators to maximize their work capabilities in the late 1800’s, the headset of today has become more of an accessory than a tool. But before the headset came to what is today, it has served many purposes that has helped in the events of many historic events.
After it has been used by operators, it became a part of an expensive subscription for users to be able to tune in to opera performances using it via a telephone. This means subscribers don’t have to be physically present in the opera house in order to listen to performances. This was considered the first online music streaming method in history. But after this, the headset eventually was used for music listening but it’s not like what is today, as the media devices in the early 1900’s was bulky and non-portable. Then the military started to equip their intelligence departments with headsets in order to eavesdrop on potential enemies. This just goes to show that these headsets really are a wonder and has proved itself to be quite the useful tool.

The headset use, before it became popular to our culture were mostly used either for communication or media devices but not for music. Government agencies use these devices in order to gain information such reconnaissance and review recordings. It was merely something that a few people use that weren’t too common for everyday use. When media devices were made available for homes on a large scale, headsets started to appear but still, people had the option to listen to music via loudspeakers. It wasn’t until 1979 that headsets will make its mark in history.
Sony released the Walkman in 1979. People were just getting excited over the idea of being able to carry music with them. Sony had the idea of a portable media devices intended only for one person, and this is why it has people wanting in it. Music was a good industry in the 1970’s due to the rise of disco music. People loved disco during this era and the Walkman was just a great device to listen in to. It was common in the 70’s & 80’s that you can see someone dancing on the streets while having a Walkman headset attached to their ears. The popularity of headsets just went along with the rise of the Walkman.
The everyday person will always have something to do. They go to work, they drive a car and many other things. It’s no secret that people love to multi-task, and what better way to do that than having a headset. For instance, joggers get up to make a quick run.
